WyCoCourse UpdateThursday, February 23, 2006 Kan-U-WyCo and Workday -
Many thanks to the guys that came out the WyCo workday Saturday. Jake Carmack, Bryan Guthrie, Tracy Walker, Brad Merys and Mark Arnold. Also thanks to Nick who was just playing a round by himself and stopped to help. Items I wanted to accomplish: Clear out area on #7 for short pin and get it planted. DONE! Repair or replace some of the old rotten benches Mike and I made. DONE! Thanks to "Doc" Norby! Replace the pin on #4 original that got knocked out by a mower. DONE! Remove the funky tee-signs, not the signs themselves but the printed diagrams that I made and don't all look right. Hopefully replace those signs with better ones. Get the range finder and shoot the distances of the pins I don't have yet, only a few. DONE! (Thanks to Mark for bringing his range finder) Repair #17 long placement that got knocked loose. DONE! finally, move the course all long for the first round of the tourney. DONE! There will be a work day at WyCo this coming Saturday - 2/25 I will be there with coffee and donuts at 9:30 We need to get the course all spiffed up for the tourney If you need any information at all please call me - 816-830-0974 or send me e-mail using the link on the courses page. Monday, June 13, 2005 KC Wide Open - Thanks - A huge thanks to all the pros that came to town and played at WyCo during the KC Wide Open. I hope you all had a great time. We have been putting a lot of effort into WyCo over the last year in anticipation of the pros being out there and are really proud of how it has turned out. More improvements are in store for the WyCo course so look for more tourneys there in the fuure.
It was awesome to see the most famous faces in disc golf play on the course I call home and shread it. Ken Climo making the jump from the forth card to the lead card with a 7 stroke improvement on his second round was truly impressive. And seeing Chris Sprague shoot an incredible 50 and lock himself in the lead spot for the rest of the tourney was outstanding. I can't imagine shooting a 50 on the 8400'+ course with rope narrowed fairways. Great shooting Chris and congratulations on winning the 23rd annual Kansas City Wide Open. For all the scores for the National tour click here: http://www.pdgatour.com/results.php For the scores for the Am KCWO that was held at Swope and Rosedale go here: http://www.pdga.com/schedule/event.php?TournID=4640 Whether you're a local player or just passing through town don't forget to get a round or two in at WyCo. We run league there every Friday evening with a 6:00pm tee off. Simply show up to play. It's an informal league run by the KCFDC and you're welcome to come and play. I am keeping hole by hole stats all season starting with the KCWO layout. The layout is going to be changing this week though. It's been where it is for six weeks and it's time for a change. Look for #1 to go to long right at the request of Cecil Cameron and #14 will be going across the pond. I plan to move almost every pin that can move so look for a very different course by this Friday. Finally, a very special thanks to Pat, Mike, Paul and all the guys on the mowers and trimmers of The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City Kansas Parks Department for all of their help in getting the course looking so nice. It played much better with all that rain thanks to their hard work and support. And no tournament would be possible without the people on the spot doing the important stuff. Major thanks to Tammie Morrison for handling the board and helping me keep my cool when things got weird, Sean did a great job of keeping things moving on #4 and to Dalton Morrison for spotting on #13 with my good friend Ed Gonzales. Thanks Ed! Also, having Jack out there as the PDGA Marshall with his handy little computer-like device made monitoring the weather a snap. Last but certainly not least, thanks to Master BBQ Chef Paul Eklund for the great eats!! See you all at WyCo!! Kevin Montgomery |
